It has been awhile since my last post due to work and a bit of a cold, but I’m back with a nice Bordeaux! Le Ringue is a new one for me. 90% Merlot and 10% Cab Franc, it shows dark in the glass with a nose of baker’s chocolate, damp earth and anise.
On the palate, I pick up the plum and blackberry fruit with bits of graphite and herbs and perhaps a bit of black pepper.
It shows a lot of character for an inexpensive Bordeaux and it evolved the longer it was open with the fruit getting sweater and more pronounced.
Great minerality and a nice firm structure to the wine. Note that this wine is unoaked. You won’t find milk chocolate or sweet vanilla in the wine. This is a nice weeknight wine for hearty winter foods like beef stew, meatloaf or a pasta bolognese.
